SOMERSET
HERALDRY SOCIETY The Somerset Heraldry Society was founded in January 2003. First and foremost its mission was to study and discuss the heraldry of Somerset, but it soon showed itself to be a group interested in considering the subject in all its varied aspects as well as forging links with other like-minded organisations.
The social side of life has not been neglected and the society prides itself on the way it has rapidly become a growing band of friends and something of an informal dining club.
The society has up to half a dozen meetings a year, now at Old Threshing Mill near Shepton Mallet. These feature talks and presentations by both members and visiting speakers. During the summer months visits are organised to places of heraldic interest in Somerset and adjacent counties. The Somerset Heraldry Society's journal, The Somerset Dragon, is produced three times a year and contains an update on society events as well as at least two major articles and news of significant heraldic activities in the country as a whole.
